Podcast and video rooms designed and built for Canggu Podcast, a company renting recording spaces by the hour: a podcast room with a lit bookcase wall and armchairs, and a larger video room with slatted timber walls, a clean backdrop and space for cameras and lights. Built to work on camera: lighting, backdrop and furniture were designed together.
Recording rooms are small projects with exacting briefs: sound insulation between the rooms and from the street, surfaces that do not reflect, a backdrop that reads on camera and enough clear floor for lights and cameras to move. Elper Development designed and built both rooms under one contract, from the acoustic layout to the furniture, so the client could open and start renting the studios by the hour.
The area: Berawa and Canggu
Berawa is the quieter, greener edge of Canggu, a few minutes from the beach clubs of Batu Bolong and the surf of Echo Beach, with the cafés, gyms and schools that made Canggu the busiest expat and rental market on the island. Villas here rent all year round, to families and remote workers in the low season and to holiday groups over Christmas and the European summer.
The lanes behind Jalan Pantai Berawa still hold rice fields and family compounds, so the best plots are the ones set back from the main road, and access, drainage and the neighbours matter as much as the view. Our own office is on Jalan Pantai Berawa, so every site in this area is one we can visit the same day.

Canggu Podcast is one of the commercial projects we design and build for clients, with the same team and the same method as our villas: one contract for concept, permits, construction and fit-out, milestone payments and a documented construction file. Restaurants, offices, studios and small hospitality buildings all follow the same path, from the first sketch to the opening day.
